About

Julia Goodwin is a professionally registered Landscape Architect and Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute, who has been working in the industry since 2001.  Julia has successfully completed a wide range of public and private sector projects, from strategic studies through to detailed design and construction. Based on this wide range of experience, she firmly believes that landscape planning should be an iterative and creative process to find the best relationship between landscape and people.

Julia is particularly interested in finding creative design solutions that are specific to their context and are socially, environmentally and commercially sustainable.  She is passionate about collaborative working as the way to achieve a fully integrated design and a successful project. A detailed understanding of local planning policy, building standards and detail design considerations underpins her strategic planning, landscape masterplanning and Green Network design.

Julia’s work experience includes most sectors, reflecting her adaptability and belief in the positive role landscape architecture has across a broad range of developments: in particular, residential schemes, strategic sites and the public realm.

Julia has worked for Barton Willmore for many years, initially based in London before establishing the Landscape Team in Edinburgh. Prior to this, Julia worked for several years at Whitelaw Turkington | Grontmij; the City of Cape Town Urban Design Branch and Megan Anderson Landscape Architects.
